BenefitsWhat holds advertisers back

Sound familiar? The ad marketplace is built for exactly that.

On the left are typical obstacles to advertising in publisher media, on the right the capabilities of the ad marketplace. Every one of them exists in the system today, and none is a promise for later.

  • Your audience is scattered

Your audience doesn't read one big site but many magazines, newspapers and portals. Approaching each publisher individually takes weeks and yields quotes in ten different formats.

    • One account for all publishers. You see the participating publishers with their websites and slots in one place and choose from them.
    • One campaign across several publishers. Targeting, bid, budget and creatives apply to all selected slots at once.
    • One contract, one invoice. You accept the terms of the ad marketplace once and receive invoices from the platform, not from each publisher.

    Ten inquiries become one campaign.

  • Wasted reach and tracking headaches

Widely scattered ads mostly reach readers you never meant to address. And anyone who tracks readers across sites needs consents, banners and explanations.

    • Targeting by place, not by person. You choose publisher, website, section and ad slot. The placement of the ad tells you who reads it.
    • Counting without cookies. Impressions and clicks are counted without a cookie, without a user profile, and without a stored address or browser identifier. Known bots are filtered out and never charged.
    • Results via the click ID. For each counted click, the ad marketplace appends an ID to the destination URL. Your site uses it to report a result back, without you identifying any reader.

Exactly the right section, without a reader profile.

  • Minimum budgets and media agencies

Small trade titles often require minimum bookings or sell only through agencies. For a company with a modest budget, the effort is hardly worth it.

    • Self-service booking without intermediaries. You set up the campaign yourself, even with a small budget. You decide the total budget and the daily budget.
    • Prepayment instead of a credit check. You top up your credit, and only what was counted is used. Once the credit is used up or the budget is reached, delivery stops.
    • The platform handles invoicing. One invoice per top-up, with VAT or, for companies based in another EU country with a verified VAT ID, with a note that the recipient is liable for the tax.

You set budget and term, with no minimum spend.

  • No transparency about delivery

Where did the ad run, at what price, and what did you pay for? Flat-rate offers rarely answer that.

    • Reports by publisher, website and slot. Impressions, clicks and costs, by day or hour, per campaign and creative, in the interface and as JSON or CSV.
    • Auction pricing, openly explained. Bids decide on every page view. The rules are set out on this page and in the terms.
    • Ads are labeled. Every ad carries the label "Ad" and a "Why am I seeing this?" link. There, readers see who is advertising and why the ad appears.

You know where your money went.

How it worksFrom registration to report

From zero to a running campaign in seven steps

Everything happens in your advertiser account. You need neither an agency nor a phone call with each publisher.

  1. Register and get verifiedYou create an advertiser account with your company details and VAT ID (for companies in the EU). Once you have confirmed your email address, the number is checked with the EU's VIES service, and then the operator activates your account.
  2. Top up your creditBy prepayment through the payment provider Stripe, starting at the minimum top-up. You receive an invoice from the platform.
  3. Create a campaignYou choose publishers, websites, sections, slots and formats, set your bid, total budget, daily budget and term, and enter the destination URL.
  4. Upload or design creativesYou upload finished images or build them in the creative builder from a photo, brand, headline and button text. The builder produces all five formats.
  5. Wait for approvalThe operator checks every new creative for obvious violations of the content rules. After that, it runs at each publisher automatically or after that publisher's own approval.
  6. DeliveryOn every page view, the auction decides which ad appears. Only counted traffic is charged.
  7. Read the report and adjustYou see impressions, clicks and costs, adjust your bid and targeting, or pause the campaign.
ContextNo cookies, no profile

Context instead of profiles

The ad marketplace knows no readers, only places. An ad appears because it fits a publisher, a website, a section and a slot, not because someone was tracked across sites.

  • No cookiesNo cookie is set, either when the ad is served or when it is counted.
  • No user profileThere is no column and no code for readers' address, browser identifier or session. A guard test in the source code enforces this.
  • Targeting by placePublisher, website, section, ad slot and format. The auction needs nothing more.
  • Cleanly filteredKnown bots, prefetches and duplicate requests are counted but never charged.
  • ExplainableThrough "Why am I seeing this?", readers see who is advertising and why, and can report the ad.
PricingBids instead of a rate card

The price is set in the auction, not in a rate card

You place a bid as a maximum price per 1,000 impressions. On every page view, the highest bid wins among the campaigns that match the slot and format and have budget and credit.

You do not pay your own bid but the second-highest bid plus one cent, at least the slot's minimum bid and never more than your own bid. If there is no second bid, the minimum bid applies. So you can bid high to win and still pay only what the competition requires.

A worked example for illustration, not a price quote: you bid EUR 12.00, the second-highest bid is EUR 8.00, and the slot's minimum bid is EUR 5.00. You win and pay EUR 8.01 per 1,000 impressions.

Minimum bids per slot

Each publisher sets a minimum bid for its slots. Below that, your bid does not take part in the auction. You can see the minimum bids of participating publishers in your advertiser account after logging in, when you set up a campaign.

Credit and prepayment

You top up your credit by prepayment, starting at €100.00 net. Only what was counted is used. You receive an invoice for every top-up.

TechnologyAPI, reports, results

For agencies and technical teams

Everything the interface can do can also be used programmatically. You receive the API documentation with your advertiser account, and it is not published openly online.

  • API with access keysYou create keys with limited permissions (read reports, read or write campaigns, upload creatives, report results) and revoke them at any time. A key can see only its own account.
  • Reports as JSON and CSVBy day or hour, campaign, creative, publisher, website and slot. CSV in two forms: for programs (comma, decimal point) and for Excel (semicolon, decimal comma).
  • WebhooksThe ad marketplace sends signed notifications of events in your account to an https address of your choice and retries on errors.
  • Results via click IDFor each counted click, the ad marketplace appends wm_klick to your destination URL. Your site reports the value and name of the result back. The ID is valid for 90 days.
QuestionsBefore you open an account

Frequently asked questions

Who can advertise?

Companies based in an EU member state with a valid VAT ID. Without this number, registration is not possible. The operator checks the details and activates the account.

Why do I need a VAT ID, and does that also apply outside Germany?

The number is checked with the EU's VIES service, together with name and address. The VAT on your invoice depends on it. An advertiser account from another EU country with a verified number receives the invoice without German VAT.

What content is allowed, and who checks it?

Creatives must be recognizable as advertising, must not be misleading and must not violate any laws, such as competition law, copyright or the rights of third parties. You are responsible for the creative and the destination. The operator checks every new creative for obvious violations before its first delivery, and publishers can additionally approve or block creatives themselves and exclude industries. A check does not replace legal advice. All rules are set out in the ad marketplace terms.

How does invoicing work, and what is reverse charge?

For each top-up, the platform issues you an invoice in its own name and with its own number, with prices net. If you are based in Germany, VAT is added. If you are based in another EU country with a verified VAT ID, your company owes the tax itself (reverse charge), and the invoice carries the corresponding note.

Do I get my remaining credit back?

Yes. You request the refund in text form. The operator ends any running campaigns, deducts the usage incurred up to that point and pays out the remainder within 14 days. It issues a credit note for the refunded amount.

What does it cost to take part?

Creating the advertiser account costs nothing, and you pay for counted traffic at the auction price. Top-ups start at €100.00 net. How many readers a slot reaches depends on the publisher and the subject area. We do not guarantee reach, and the operator does not owe any particular number of impressions or clicks.
